Setting up Stutter Edit 2

To use Stutter Edit 2, you need to install it from the iZotope Product Portal[^1^] and authorize it with your serial number[^3^]. You also need a MIDI controller or keyboard to trigger the effects. Stutter Edit 2 works as an insert effect on an audio track or a bus. You can use it on vocals, drums, synths, guitars, or any other audio source you want to manipulate.

Depending on your DAW, you may need to set up a MIDI track or channel to send MIDI data to Stutter Edit 2. You can find detailed instructions for different DAWs in the iZotope Help Documentation[^2^]. Once you have set up the MIDI routing, you can load a preset from the Global Controls section or browse through the presets using the left and right arrows. Each preset contains a bank of gestures, which are different combinations of effects that you can trigger with different keys on your MIDI controller.

Using Stutter Edit 2

To use Stutter Edit 2, simply press a key on your MIDI controller while playing back your audio track. You will hear the effect applied to the audio in sync with your project tempo. You can switch between different gestures by pressing different keys, or hold down multiple keys to layer different effects. You can also use the mod wheel or pitch bend wheel on your MIDI controller to control some parameters of the effects.

If you want to create instant stutter effects without using a MIDI controller, you can use the new Auto mode in Stutter Edit 2. Auto mode randomly selects gestures from the current bank and applies them to the audio at regular intervals. You can adjust the interval and probability of the gestures using the sliders in the Global Controls section.

Customizing Stutter Edit 2

If you want to create your own effects and gestures, you can use the Curve editor in Stutter Edit 2. The Curve editor lets you edit the shape and timing of each parameter in each effect module. You can access the Curve editor by clicking on any slider in the plug-in interface. You can draw your own curves using the mouse or use one of the preset shapes from the menu. You can also copy and paste curves between different parameters or modules.

Stutter Edit 2 has 12 effect modules that you can combine and tweak to create endless possibilities. The modules are: Stutter, Buffer, Lo-Fi, Distort, Bitcrush, Filter, Reverb, Comb Filter, Chorus/Flanger/Phaser/Vibrato (CFPV), Delay, Panner/Gate (PG), and Mix Control. You can learn more about each module and its parameters in the iZotope Help Documentation[^2^].

Conclusion

iZotope Stutter Edit 2 is a powerful and creative tool for adding movement and interest to your audio tracks. Whether you want to create glitchy transitions, rhythmic patterns, or ear candy effects, Stutter Edit 2 can help you achieve it with one button. You can also customize your own effects with the Curve editor and explore new sounds with the Auto mode. Try it out for yourself with a 10-day free trial from iZotope[^1^]. e0e6b7cb5c
